The creative biography of the studio began in the distant 1928, when in the unfinished pavilion at night, because the day raged construction, completed work on the first film. They became "Vanka and Avenger" by Axel Lundin (op. Andrew Meins). In the same year, two short documentary films - "The Eggs" by M. Kaufman and "The Eleventh" by D.Vertov were shot. By the way, the name of Dzyga Vertova is the appearance of the first sound documentary film studio - "Symphony of Donbass." This was a new word in Ukrainian cinema, which opened up additional information capabilities of the cinema document. The film was widely featured abroad, and after one of his reviews, Charlie Chaplin, who was not in a hurry to use the sound in his own films, said with enthusiasm that "never imagined that industrial noise could have been so appealing.".
With the commencement of the filming of the first films, the studio organism lived with a full-fledged, vibrant creative life. Experimental screenwriters have come to the studio:
directors – O. Dovzhenko, A. Kordyum, P. Dolina, L. Lukov, I.Kavaleridze, F.Lopatinsky, I.Savchenko;
operators – D.Demutsky, Yu.Eekelchik, M.Topchii, Y.Rona, I.Shekker, O.Pankratiev;
literaries – M. Bazhan, O. Kornichiuk, G. Brasyuk, V. Ohorimenko.
It immediately affected the number and quality of works and the diversity of genres.
In 1929, 10 films were already filmed, including the historical-revolutionary (Jalma), children's ("No Obstacles" and "Themselves Robinson"), the first screen adaptation of the work of V.Vinnichenko ("Adventures of the Poltana"), the film scene ( "Komsomolia"), cinema ("Village Veselye"), satirical film ("Schoolgirl") and non-fiction film "Man with a Cinema Camera" by D.Vertov (op. M.Kautfman). This film was named among the 12 best documentaries of all time at 13 Manfred Menfi in 1964.
In the nomination of artistic films, such recognition of Ukrainian films reached only "Earth" by O. Dovzhenko, when on the 1958 World Exhibition in Brussels, 117 leading critics and cinema experts from 26 countries named 12 best feature films of all time and peoples.
I must say that the cinematographers of the studio from the very first steps have attracted attention to their activities: films were presented at prestigious film festivals of the world and more than once turned out to be the winners demonstrating the professional and executive skills of their creators. Among the achievements of the film studio are awards of 75 International and 65 All-Union Film Festivals, 17 state and 9 republican awards, rewards of republican, zonal and youth cinema forums. There is also the highest award of the American Academy of Film for the film "Rainbow".
The 75-year-old film studio is famous for the affairs and names of those who laid the foundations of young art, developed achievements, multiplied creative successes.
The first in this series is Alexander Petrovich Dovzhenko (1894-1956), whose work was life-saving for cinema and defined the further ways of developing Ukrainian cinema. It is he who, with his unique works, laid the tradition of national poetry cinema, which continued its continuation whenever directors-innovators came to the cinema and each in its own way developed and solved the theme of poetic cinema.
Let's recall at least that explosion of talents in 60-70 years that made the cinema talk about the cinema of Ukraine: "Shadows of forgotten ancestors" by S. Paradzhanov (op. Yu.Illenko), "White Bird with a Black Sign" by Y.Illenko (op. "The Stone Cross" by L.Osiki (op. V.Kvas), "From Boredom" by A.Voyetsky (op. V.Bashkatov), "Babylon XX" by I.Mikolaichuk (op.Yu.Garmash). To the poetic movie critics of his time referred to the author of these lines "Going to you" and "Commissars" (op.O.Itigilov, O.Martinov).
Here, at the studio, which since 1957 proudly bears the name of Dovzhenko, Alexander Petrovich shot his best films.
“Land” (1930, Op.D.Demutsky) - the poetic view of the author on social changes in the countryside, caused by collectivization. The painting attracted the attention of the cinema not to thematic direction, but to the high talent of the master, the innovative artistic value, as well as to the skill of the actor's ensemble: S.Shkurat, P.Masokha, M.Nademsky, S.Svashenko created extremely bright images. The film "Earth" is a masterpiece of the world of dumb cinema.
The first sound film by O. Dovzhenko "Ivan" was subjected to devastating criticism. Dovzhenko was forced to leave Ukraine and move to Moscow. There he put "Aerograd" (1935).
In 1939, in essence, at the request of Stalin, he takes off the film "Schors", which he wrote with deep pain in a diary of that time.
Alongside Alexander Petrovich his fellow-workers and like-minded people - the operators Daniel Dmyutsky and Yuriy Yekelchyk worked side-by-side. They searched for and found the only possible imaging tools that could convey the greatness of Dovzhenko's poetic vision of reality, because even daily events in his works sounded like high poetry.
Igor Andreevich Savchenko (1906-1950), a singer of national beauty, master of the heroic-patriotic theme, came to the studio with a well-known artist with his creative handwriting and preferences. He began his work at the film studio with the adaptation of the work of Y. Yanovsky "Horsemen" (1939, op. V. Okulich). I.Savchenko, the first Ukrainian artist, addressed the topic of guerrilla warfare during the Civil War.
He then filmed: the historical film "Bogdan Khmelnytsky" (1941, op. Yu.Eekelchik) with Mykola Mordvinov in the leading role; Screenplay of the play by O.Korniychuk "Partisans in the Steppes of Ukraine" (1942, op. Yu.Eekelchik) - about the struggle of Ukrainian peasants with fascists; "Third Blow" (1948, op. M. Kirilov) - a picture of a military operation on the liberation of the Crimea, where again, for the first time, he showed an ordinary soldier, a warrior who, at every moment risking his life, won the victory; And the biographical film "Taras Shevchenko" (1951, op.D.Demutsky, I.Shekker, A.Koltsyty), the main role of which was performed by Sergei Bondarchuk.
All I.Savchenko's films were a huge success and earned high marks. Three of them - Bogdan Khmelnytsky, Third Blow and Taras Shevchenko - were awarded Stalin Prizes
Among the founders of the national cinema was a talented sculptor and director Ivan Petrovich Kavaleridze (1887-1978), who became the pioneer, discoverer of the new in cinema. He tried to move the sculptural forms of art close to him on the screen. This effort is especially noticeable in the early writings of the director, when in the composition, mise scene, in the individual characterization of the heroes sculptural presence was present. There was also a sculpture of any general plan in his writings of this time.
I.P.Kavaleridze is one of the first in Ukraine to turn to the genre of historical cinema ("Dirt", "Perekop", "Koliivshchina"). In our studio, the first Ukrainian cinemas - "Natalka Poltavka" and "Zaporozhetsy after the Danube" - were put on it, and also - the national epic drama "Prometheus", the biographical film "Grigory Skovoroda", the patriotic short story "Stozhary" and the adaptation of the work of P.Mirny "Prostitute".
The works of Kavaleridze were marked by historical informativity and credibility, and were widely demonstrated by his special approach to the imaginative culture.
30th years for the Kiev Film Studio were years of formation. The masters mastered the sound, which greatly expanded the possibilities of the cinema, since it strengthened its ties with literature, theater and music. The heroes got linguistic characteristics, a voice came out. And all of this greatly enriched the genre of cartoons of cartoons.
In those same years, appeared in cinema and color - one more touch of the visual enrichment of the cinema. The first color tape of the studio was "Sorochinsky fair" by M.Ekka (op. M.Kulchytsky, G.Alexandrov, 1939).
The cinema of this time was the most popular and most accessible form of art for the people. Especially it concerned films dedicated to the present - "Contact" by E.Kosukhin, "The Secret of Rapid" by P.Dolina, "The Last Catal" by L.Frenkel, "Italic" by L.Lukova, "The Tractorators" by I.Pieriev, "The Wind From the East "and" Strict Youth "by A. Rooma," Great Life "by L. Lukova," Hememont "by M. Shpykovsky and others.
From the first steps of its existence, the film of Ukraine, according to the Kremlin's policy, has developed in cooperation with Russian cinema. In different years, Russian directors B.Barnet, L.Lukov, I.Pieriev, V.Petrov, A.Room, M.Donskaya worked at the film studio, and Russian actors -M.Mordvinov, I.Skuratov, M.Zharov, B.Andreev, L.Sverdlin, M.Kryuchkov and many others. These tendencies intensified during the Second World War: everyone was united by a common misfortune. The film studio went to Ashgabat, and the crew of the movie "Alexander Parkhomenko" - to Tashkent.
In the years of evacuation, with the participation of film-makers in Ashgabat, they were filmed: "How Steel Tempered," "Partisans in the Steps of Ukraine," "Summer of Youth" and "Combat Movie Collection No. 9". In Tashkent, a picture of the legendary Civil War leader Oleksandr Parkhomenko was completed.
Palaces in the flames of the war of the city and the villages of the Batkivshchyna, with the tension worked documentaries, detailing the suffering and grief of the people, about courage and will to victory. Worked and artistic cinema.
In 1943, Mark Donskoy filmed a film based on the novel by Vandy Vasilevsky "Rainbow" (Op. B. Monastyrsky) with Natalia Uzhvy in the leading role. The role of the mother-partisan, tortured by the Nazis, the actress shook the world. And the film became a significant event, visited many countries. It was also shown in the USA. The US Film and Radio Association in 1945 awarded the film studio a prize for its outstanding contribution to establishing a universal understanding with the "Rainbow" movie, and President Roosevelt, looking at the film, said: "The people who are capable of creating such a film are unbeatable."
The next essay on the war - "Unbreakable" - based on Boris Horbatov's story, M. Donskoy was already filming in Kiev in 1945. This was the first post-war film of the studio. In the leading role was unbeaten Ambrose Buchma. The success of the painting is the Golden Medal of the International Film Festival in Venice in 1946.
One more extraordinary event in the life of the film studio was shot in 1947 by a film by one of the most talented students of L. Kuleshova Boris Barnett "The Exploration of a Spy". One of the most famous and favorite films of his time and now is among the top five adventure movies about the war.
Major Fedotov starred Pavlo Kadochnikov in the lead role.
The war has become almost the most important topic of postwar years. The films magnified the feat of fighters and partisans, they talked about the struggle in the rear, where hundreds of thousands of Soviet people worked, helping the front, bringing victory closer.
The theme of the war for a long time did not go away from the screens, because every next generation told about her in her own way, from the standpoint of his time and personal perception of the hero.
Postwar years and the beginning of the 50'swere a difficult test for the film studio. The films were filmed a little one or two a year. From 1945 to 1951, only eleven were removed. But four of them - "The Feat of the Spy", "Third Blow", "In Peaceful Days", "Taras Shevchenko" - were awarded the Stalin Prizes and had a huge audience success.
After the government's adoption in 1952, the decision to expand the film production of life at the film studio was re-enriched, and the cinematographic films were replenished. The war veterans returned, theater directors V.Ivchenko and Y.Lysenko came, young people came from the institutes: directors - S.Paradzhanov, M.Litus, M.Ilyinsky, A.Bukovsky; Operators - V. Vereshchak, V. Allenko, Y. Ilyenko, S. Lisetsky, O. Prokopenko, S. Shakhbazyan.
Famous writers and scriptwriters - O. Gonchar, L. Dmitcherko, V. Zakrutkin, G. Kushnirenko, G. Koltunov, D. Pavlychko - are involved in the work on scripts.
But the script is a long time, so directors immediately approached theatrical performances staged by outstanding stage masters. The world saw: "The children of the sun", "Love at dawn", "Lilia", "Moral of Mrs. Dulskaya", "One hundred thousand", "Stolen happiness" and others.
In promoting the national culture, the directors filmed concert-films: "Verkhovyna, my mother," "Bandura chapel", "Chapel thought", "On the wings of the song", etc. There were filmed plays - "Kalinovyi gai", "Limerovna", "Suet", as well as Ukrainian and Russian prose - "The girl from the lighthouse" and "Tavria" for the works of O. Gonchar, "Thunderstorm over the fields" according to the novel A. Shiyan, "Human Blood - Not Watery" by M. Stelmakh, "Malva" for the story of M. Gorky.
Among the screenings of films of this time, the greatest luck was the fate of M.Donsky's work, produced by M.Kotsyubinsky, "The Road Price", which the British Film Academy named the best foreign film that was shown in England in 1958.
In a few years, another film of the film studio - "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" - will receive the same rating in 1965.
Continuing the heroic-romantic traditions, the students I.Savchenko O.Alov and V.Namuyov turned to the recent history of the country and removed "Anxiety Youth" by the work of V. Belyaev "The Old Fortress" and "Pavlo Korchagin" in the novel by M. Ostrovsky "How Tempered steel".
The topic of revolutionary events in Ukraine is also addressed by T. Levchuk in the films "Kiyanka", the 1st and 2nd series, and "The heirs" (op. M. Kulchytsky), united in the cinema.
The artists did not forget about modern problems. And the first such attempt was made by V.Ivchenko and I.Shmaruk in the film "The Destiny of the Marina", showing the fate of a simple rural worker against the background of the life of a modern village. The decoration of the film has become a wonderful actor ensemble.
After the "Destiny of Marina" and "Nazar Stodol" V.Ivchenko takes one of two of his best films - "Extraordinary event" and "Ivanna" (op., Both - O. Prokopenko). The first film was created on the basis of a true fact - the capture of the Chiang Kai-shek by the Soviet tanker Tuapse, and the second - telling about the tragic fate of the young patriot who died in the first days of the war, becoming the banner of the People's Guard named after Ivan Franko.
In those years many and fruitfully works one of the best mariners of domestic cinema, the singer of the romance of the sea Volodymyr A. Brown (1896-1957). He started his creative career in Leningrad, worked in Odessa, and since 1945 - at our studio. Here he shot his best-known films: "Long Distance", "Blue Roads", "In peace days" (Op. Dmitry Demutsky, Stalin Prize), "Maximko", "Ship Commander", "Sailor Chizhik," " Sea Cries "and his latest film (in 1956) -" Malva ".
60s 70s were for the studio for years of special escalation: experienced masters and young directors have been stubbornly looking for new sources of national material and new means for realizing plans. And the moment was suitable for this - in the courtyard was Khrushchev's "thaw".
Slight warming was enough to make the audience again saw works created in the tradition of national poetic cinema, a new word which has become already mentioned S.Paradzhanov film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" (op.Yu.Illyenko) - a colorful show in which all the action , features characters and surroundings were designed primarily on visual perception, rich colors abounded Carpathian nature, fascinated ethnographic detail and vibrant costumes, not to mention the actors - and I. Mykolaychuk L.Kadochnykovu who delighted personal beauty and large of talent.
The film has conquered the world, brought great popularity to its creators, the fame - the film studio and took an honorary place among the classical works of Ukrainian cinema.
Serhij Yosypovich Paradzhanov (1924-1990) came to the studio from VGIK, where he studied at IA Savchenko, and received a diploma from O. Dovzhenko's hands. Fate wished that such great mentors blessed him on the creative path. Withdrawing his "Shadows ...", he paid tribute to his teachers, showed what he learned, loved, knew and understood. But he understood the people and loved his original creativity. And he himself was an artist unique, with a unique outlook. It was exactly what O.Dovzhenko saw when he saw his graduation work "Moldavian Tale".
“The Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors "was the latest picture taken by S.Paradzhanov in our studio [before that:" Andriysh "," First Guy "," Ukrainian Rhapsody ", short films -" Kapel "Dumka", "Natalia Uzhvy" and " Golden hands "(in co-authorship)]. But twice his name appeared in the titles of the studio: he was co-author of the scripts of the films "Swan Lake. Zone "and" Etudes of Vrubel "(both 1989).
Dovzhenkovtsi remember and respect this bright person with a soul sincere and immense, like the Cosmos. A beautiful monument, erected near the first pavilion, in which he created an ingenious film "Shadows of forgotten ancestors", is a vivid testimony.
Among the poetic works of this period are talented films: Y.Illenka - "The Well for the Thirsty", "The Evening on Ivan Kupala", "The White Bird with a Black Sign", L.Osika - "The Stone Cross", A.Voyetsky - " From Boredom ", M. Belikova -" The Night is Short ", B.Ivchenko -" The Lost Diploma ".
At the end of the 1960s, television artistic cinematography began to work on the studio, which significantly expanded the volume of cinema production. During the years of its existence - 1966-1991 - the TV association Promin has released a large number of the most diverse film categories - from historical, military, detective to lyrical-romantic, children's, youth and entertainment.
One of the forms of mastering the television of acquired creative experience has become screenplay. The literary sources were the basis of the TV films: "The world of huts, the war of the palaces", "Waves of the Black Sea", "The tales of love", "Kashtanka", "Kiss", "Two hussars", "Red cock of the plymutrok", "The day before yesterday" "How Steel Tempered," "Ovid", "Courage", "Vertical Races", "Even before the War", "Captain Fracassus" and many others.
At the same time, the Theater opened the studio of the cinema actor where Natalia Naum, Mykola Grynko, Boryslav Brandukov, Ivan Mykolaychuk, Raisa Nedashkivska, Margarita Krynycina, Leonid Bykov, Mykola Olealin started their work.
The film studio has come again to replenish.
During these years their first films were filmed: A. Bukovsky, O. Lencius, L. Osik, I.Vetrov, V.Saveliev, B.Ivchenko, E.Sherstobitov. Yulia Ilyenka's debut tape - "The Well for the Wished" - the viewer saw only in 22 years: the bureaucracy was afraid of a sincere and brave talk about our lack of spirituality and, from sin away, put the film "on the shelf." And now, when mud-free wells and scattered souls are inseparable companions of our lives, it became clear that the movie was a cautionary prophecy.
The same fate also happened to the picture of V. Denisenko "Conscience". The true work on the events of the Second World War, on which all the Denisenko course of the theater institute worked, for 20 years "fell on the shelf". And only in 1991 at the First All-Ukrainian Film Festival the film was appreciated by the jury of film critics. At the same festival, Volodymyr Terentyevich Denysenko (1930-1984), posthumously noted for his outstanding contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema, was sharply social and uncompromising. His films - "Soldatka", "Roman and Francesca", "Son", "Silent only statues", "Inspiration", "On the Kiev direction", "Women", "High pass" - raised the problems of the present, truthfully reproduced the historical Events magnify the person, respecting her searches and aspirations.
Film production of the 60s was very diverse both thematically and genre. Here is the romance of the revolution and the civil war - "Death of the squadron", "Fighting", "Weed", "Viper", and adventure films - "They were known only in the person", "I want to believe", "Far from the Motherland", "Dr. Absta's experiment", films for children - "Treasures of burning rocks", "Jung from the schooner" Columbus "," Aqualangas on the bottom "," Fugitive from Amber "," Great trouble through the little boy ", biographical movie" Dream "and Essay films about outstanding scene masters - "Natalia Uzhvy", "Gnat Yura", "Marian Krushelnytsky", films - screenings "Two Hares", "The Lion", "Evening on Ivan Kupala", "Forest Song", "The Stone Cross", "Povia", films about the severe weekdays of the war - "Three Days After Immortality", "Two Years Over the Abyss" , "Child", "Spies".
A large number of films of this period represented Ukraine at film festivals of various ranks, where he received many awards. Among the winners of the International Film Festivals of this time are films: "The Shadows of Forgetten Ancestors", "Checked - No Mine", "Andromeda's Nebula", "Poster Romance", "Annihka", "Bees and People"; All-Union film festivals - "The Native", "Three Days After Immortality", "The Gaddy", "The Death of the Squadron", "The Stone Cross" and others.
The baton for the success of the 60's was transferred to the 70's and the account opened the White Bird with a Black Sign, winning the Gold Medal at the Moscow Film Festival in Moscow in 1971, and later also the Silver Sears Award at the Sorrento International Film Festival. Among the winners of the international film festivals are the "Anxious Moon September" and "Days of Flight", and "Carpathians, Carpathians", and "The Way to the Heart", and "Only" old men "and" Ati-bats, soldiers "go to battle.
More than 20 awards were received by studio films at the All-Union and about 30 at the Republican and Youth Film Festivals. Besides, there were also State Prizes of the USSR and Ukrainian SSR and other honors. It turns out that most of the films of this period were interesting for the viewer and the press.
Particular attention was paid to the debut that took place at this time more than 20! There has never been such a film studio in history. In the 70's, the first steps in the direction were made by R. Balayan, M. Belikov, A. Benkendorf, O. Goyda, V. Gorodko, M. Ilyenko, S. Klymenko, V. Krystofovich, Y. Lyashenko, I. Mykolaychuk , O.Moroz, M.Maletsky, V.Popkov, B.Savchenko, Yu.Slupsky, V.Kondratov, O.Fialko, Yu.Tupitsky, A.Ivanov.
Director of the actor Ivan Mykolaychuk became the director of the film "Babylon XX", created after the novel V. Zemlyak "Swan flock". The political theme of the picture - the first years of collectivization - is solved in a romantic and poetic key, the portrait of the historical events is presented from the standpoint of a new vision of history and artistic tasks. The debut of the talented master was noticed and highly appreciated - he received the prize for directing at the VKF in Dushanbe.
The experienced masters of the older generation - I. Shmaruk ("The World of Huts, the War of the Palaces", "Faith, Hope, Love", "The Pigeon of Lightning"), T. Levchuk ("A Long Way on a Short day", Trilogy "The Duma Hryhorii Yosypovych Lipshits (1911-1979) - "There are no back roads", "The Cold War"," Comrade Brigade "," Being a Brother ".
Interesting and fruitfully working directors of the middle generation. In their field of view, a variety of topics and problems: A. Bukovsky removes a television series on the events of the Great Patriotic War "Underground Regional Operations" and a film about aircraft designers "Sky-earth-sky"; M.Ilyinsky - a TV series about the affairs of the village Kommoments "Yurkov svitanki" and the movie "Star Blossom" about the events of the civil war in Uzbekistan; E.Sherstobitov, the true theme, takes films for children and adolescents - "Tachanka from the south", "I will no longer be", "Rebel" Orion ", etc.; V. Ilyashenko - about the life of miners "The steep horizon" and shakes up the novel by V. Bablyak "Gvanchik" about the history of Podilsky village; Y.Ilyenko is a film based on the story of O. Gonchar's "Brigantine" - "The Strip of Unbeatable Wild Flowers", that surrounds us in everyday life; L.Osika removes a poeticized excursion into the history of Ukraine - "Zakhar Berkut" and "Sea" on the problems of nature protection; V. Saweliev takes films about the revolution - "Sceple" and "White bunny"; O. Muratov screened the works of M. Stelmakh about revolutionary events in the countryside - "Goose-swans fly" and "Generous evening".
And again the theme of the war, the experience of victory in which becomes invaluable material for the upbringing of the younger generation, appears in the works of the artists of the studio.
Directors, whose biographies were written after the war, also develop this theme, each in its own way reproduces the events and consequences of those terrible years, generalizes the experience of the war and reveals the moral meaning of the feat of the people.
About the war, he shot his films "Only" old men "and" Ati-bats, soldiers "(op. V. Voytenko) Leonid Fedorovich Bykov (1928-1979)) are fighting. In the first picture, he told about the fate of the generation, for which the severe years of the war became the first life exam and school of courage. His "old men" are young officers who have had at least a few departures, and the "old men" do them though small, but the experience of conducting air battles. This is a good and poetic story about the youth, which took on all its hardships of a terrible war on its loose shoulders.
In the film "Ati-bati, soldiers were soldiers" we are talking about the heredity of generations: the children of those who did not return from the war, trying to live, comparing and comparing their actions and thoughts with high civil and human qualities of the deceased parents, to preserve forever a good memory About them and wide thanks for a great feat. The light poetics of these films by L. Bykov will remain in the history of Ukrainian cinema forever.
In 1982, L.Ossika took off an artistic documentary under the title, which stated the attitude towards L. Bikov of all who lived and worked next to him - "... Whom everyone loved". And this is the holy truth: they were respected, honored and loved by all.
In the same clip of war films, the work of L.Osika "The alarming month of September" (op. S.Shakhbazyan), where young Ivan Haplyuich goes after the war to fight the bandits in the western Ukrainian village, enters into the same age, enthusiasm and state of mind, he enters In the same row as the "old" L. Bykov.
The theme of the war, but somewhat in another aspect, is presented in the latest film by V.Yvchenko "Sofia Grushko". He - about the fighters of the invisible front, who, while fulfilling the tasks of the government during the war, attacked human condemnation. This also happened with Sophia, who, on behalf of the Soviet intelligence, co-operated with the Gestapo, but now, even after the war, she is still "on the fast" and therefore nobody can reveal the truth about herself.
Victor Ilarionovich Ivchenko (1912-1972) came to the cinema from the theater with an already formed creative personality. He has been working at the studio since 1953. During this time he shot 13 films, became the first among the cinematographers to win the laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine named after T.G. Shevchenko. But the director did not work for the rewards: art was the meaning of his life, and he served him honestly and faithfully. And he had his disciples, and he was with them - a father, a teacher, a model of humanity and uncompromisingness.
Another approach to highlighting the theme of the war is the work of Y. Ilienko "The Holiday of Baked Potatoes", which the director himself said is a film "about the collision of the spiritual world of the child with the heartlessness and cruelty of the war." The film about orphans of war, about motherhood, about feelings, which are dictated not by blood affinity, but by ideals inherent in mother-woman: to protect, to protect, to warm, to love.
A great work on the guerrilla movement in Ukraine during the Second World War was carried out by Timothy Vasilyevich Levchuk (1912-1998), removing the trilogy "The Duma about Kovpak", where he documented the episodes of the struggle of the union of S. A. Kovpak with the Nazis . The main role in the film was played by People's Artist Konstantin Stepankov. This work has become a great success of the picture and significant creative achievements of the actor.
The theme of his contemporary and his moral qualities was consistently developed by Yevhen Minovych Khrynyuk (1929-1978) in his works "Address of your home", "Anna and the Commander", "White shadow", full of piercing feelings of love, respect for the person and condolences to her. He was a man of extraordinary kindness with a broad and bright soul. The same were his films - good, broad, honest.
The spirit of the creative excitement of these two decades inspired the masters to search not only for those, but also for the most powerful means for realizing the conceived. Dovzhenkov's poetic cinema was re-read in the works of Y. Illienko, L.Osika, A.Voyetsky, I.Mikolaichuk, B.Ivchenko and other artists who proved that the state of active action and search for cinematography is endless. After all, there are always pioneers who are laying the path to the new one, and there are those who evaluate the experience, improve the acquired and, as a relay, conveys the ability and knowledge to followers.
It is known that each time has its own hero, and if in the 30s the main sources of the plot were revolution and civil war, then at 80th topics prompted the very life: the screens out films about our present, inspired by newspaper articles and essays, which highlighted the serious problems of modern society.
Thus, the plot of the "Grachi" painting by K. Yershova became an essay published in the "Literary Gazette" about a crime committed by relatives, where the eldest of the brothers, as an example and authority for the younger, led him to an uncertain road of offenses.
Konstantin Vladimirovich Ershov (1935-1984) started his creative career at Mosfilm, worked on "Lenfilm" ("Stepanov's memorial", "The Man Who Loved"), and since 1966 - at our film studio, where we put the films: "Late child", "Every night after work", "Women are joking seriously", "Grachi", "There would be no happiness ...". He was a versatile gifted man - an artist, a writer, a film director, an actor. And at the same time - noble, modest, benevolent. So it remains in the memory of friends, colleagues and admirers.
A common theme in literature and cinema of this time was the crisis of a man of middle age who did not realize himself, was unable to realize his plans and desires, and faced a dilemma - to change something in his life or to swim along the course ("Flying in a dream and a dream" "Balagan", "Self-Portrait of an Unknown").
A number of works about the relationship of children with teachers, parents, continued "good intentions", "Unit" of deception "," The men are men "," Pershotsvit "," Work on the bugs "," Brother, brother find. " Educating young people has always been one of the most important tasks of cinema: for us, adults, depending which will include our children in the world. And it is necessary to make a lot of effort to become worthy people. Therefore, the child theme never disappeared from the thematic plans of the studio. V. Trushkovsky, O. Shigaev) were shot. In the film M. The same indispensable theme of cinema is the screening of the works of leading writers and playwrights. Literary heroes get on-screen life and continue their big mission already in visible forms and actions.
In 1980, he filmed his latest film, Viktor Mikhailovich Ivanov (1901-1981), who worked at the film studio since 1936. During this time, he has made many films, among them - "Shelmenko-danshchik", "Olexa Dovbush", "For Two Hares", "Keys to Heaven", "Funny Zhabokrichi", "Snow Wedding" and others. It is known that the number of films remaining after the trial of time, judge the golden fund that determines each stage of the development of cinema. The film "For Two Hares" rightfully belongs to this fund.
In 1986, Isaak Petrovich Shmaruk (1910-1986), who came to the studio in 1935, died out of his life and began his creative career under the leadership of O. Dovzhenko. Therefore, his professionalism has never been doubted. He shot many films - "Stars on the Wings", "Missing Missing", "Simple Care", "Pigeons of Lightning", "There Is No Chance", "Your Peaceful Sky", etc., in which you have always been honest and never betrayed. High ideals of art.
In 1987, at the film studio, the youth association "Debut" began to function, the purpose of which was to identify young talents and give them a tour in great art. In the same year, their first films were filmed by Galina Shigaeva ("Naked", op. O. Shumovych), Anatoliy Mateshko ("Black Yama", op. O. Maslov-Lisichkin), Aleksandr Vizir ("Apartmentman", op. I. Belyakov ) The debut was a success: the picture of G. Shigaeva received the Grand Prix at the IFF short films in Turin, and the film A.Mateshk is the prize for the best short film at the VKF in Baku. The beginning was laid. All that will be done further by young debutants will prove that people are talented and in the art not accidental.
Unfortunately, "Debut" lasted only 7 years, but in such a short time managed to do something. There were new names that declared themselves in full voice: Svetlana Ilyinskaya, Oles Yanchuk, Andriy Donchik, Sergey Lysenko, Oleg Chorny, Dmitry Tomashpolsky, Arthur Gural, Alexander Ignatush, and others. And if even for a little economic support for this young people, we would have heard about them and saw a lot of interesting things.
But come on 90s and brought to life new landmarks that significantly pushed the art in general and cinematic art in particular. A market economy came true, which professed its laws: made - sell. And it is sold the most accessible - detectives, action films, entertaining films and other "accessible" genres. Therefore, it is not surprising that immediately, as a response to demand, there are a number of detective and adventure films - "Stone Jungle", "Sniper", "Guard", "Afganets", "Price of the head", "Shot in the tomb" , "The Mystery of the Villa," "Hostages of Fear," "The Means of Murder," "Istanbul Transit," "Twin," "Caution! Red Mercury "and others.
The 90s is the time of the most serious exam for art, and Ukrainian culture and Ukrainian history occupy their niches in the works of the artists of the film studio: the films of the patriotic sound of our ancient, and not very, history - "Hetman Kleinodi", "Waldshnepi", " Sophisticated dawns "," Parable "," Wedding with death "and biographical films -" From the life of Ostap Vishny ", about the Ukrainian writer and patriot; And the film "Ivan Mykolaychuk. Dedication "- about Ivan Mykolaichuk (1941-1987), our favorite actor, director and screenwriter, beautiful guy, melodious soul of a man who lived so few in the world and has left a deep imprint in the hearts of those who had the good fortune to see, hear it , Communicate with him.
’Again, as always, helps filmmakers truly inexhaustible source of inspiration - books. Only in the last 10 anniversary was filmed works of Ukrainian writers - Nicholas Kulish Kotsiubynskyi ( "Gift on birthday", "What is written in the book of life"), Gnat Khotkevych ( "Stone soul"), Valery Shevchuk ( "Chimera Green Summer" ) Valerian Pidmohylny ( "Good God," "Mrs. Yivhy History"), Gregory Flowers-Osnovyanenko ( "Witch"), John Kotlyarevskogo ( "Moskal the Wonder"), Khvylovy ( "Down with the shame!" And yet - Shevchenko, creativity is repeatedly asked the artists studio.
It is known that the kobb-players called the wise and authoritative singers and poets who brought them the word of truth, compassion and understanding, walking with their kobza from village to village. Kobzar called T. Shevchenko a collection of his poetry as a sign of high respect for folk art. And the people, in turn, as a sign of love and faith, called Kobzar his poet. According to Taras Shevchenko's works (1814-1861), our film studio featured films: "Prometheus", "Nazar Stodolya", musical film "The Lion", the first national film-ballet "Lilia". Two biographical films were created - "Taras Shevchenko" and "Son". Stanislav Klimenko shot a multi-serial work on the life and work of the poet Taras Shevchenko. Will".

He shot 16 paintings, among which - "Born by the storm", "Tracks-paths", "There is a son", "To the attention of citizens and organizations", "History of one love", "My contemplation", "Somewhere the war rushes", "Now, glorify the blue of man" and others. A.Yo.Voyetsky was a man of high spiritual culture, he knew, loved and understood the music, which in his writings was one of the main actors and a catalyst for dramatic action.
In the 90's the studio said goodbye to Alexander Atyaevich Itigilov (1944-1990), Boris Viktorovich Ivchenko (1941-1990), Anatoly Ivanovich (1937-1996), Igor Aleksandrovich Vetrov (1924-1998).
The 90s were hard for the film studio, but life went on. The young directors have made their debut - Natalia Andriychenko (Shamara), Sergei Masloboyshchikov ("The Singer of Josephine and the Mouse People"), Vasyl Dombrovsky ("The Yudenkrazy, or the Eternal Wheel").
With new advances returning from orbit festival film studio and brought rewards as time challenge - Grand Prix "for loyalty in the era of commerce" - the film "Spotted Dog Running Edge of the Sea" K.Hevorkyana (op. A great way went through the film studio for 90 years, enriching the domestic art with a large number of unique cinematic instruments, each of which at different times played a role in solving the main tasks of art.
A whole army of specialists of various professions worked here, subordinating their life to the regime, the rhythm and interests of cinema production, bringing the share of their knowledge and soul into an important general cause, because cinema is an art synthetic and it requires a lot of skillful hands and hot hearts to create it.
It's a pity that during the Independence the Ukrainian cinema did not reach the creative take-offs, because today this branch is scarcer, one or two films a year. The state, unfortunately, left Ukrainian cinema to its fate.
Dovzhenkovtsi are sure that the cinema will live, that its new wave will begin soon. Our nation can not remain without a great Ukrainian cinema.
